Vahé:LeisureCAST – 021. I’m A Mess

after what seems like an eternity (roughly 10 months, in fact), the LeisureCAST mix series finally returns with one intense, glorious, rocked-out 78mins. i mean think about it: 10 months. i change my musical obsession DAILY. the amount of music i’ve managed to be exposed to and absorb over that time has been immense, not to mention really fucking exciting lol. as is always the way, my foray into thrash/noise/stoner/psychedelic rock (modern variants) is what finally sparked me to get back in the game. this is definitely not something a long-time listener might dig or even expect, but it is what it is. and “it” just happens to be fucking kick-ass 🙂 you may have noticed the cover is the first real stylistic shift from the previous standard template i’ve been using. i figure it’s time to get more creative all-around. you can download the mix either in its separate track/chopped format (via mediafire), or stream/download the one-track file directly from the Soundcloud link below. hope y’all dig it 🙂

Flynt Flossy – WHY I GOTTA WAIT?? (feat. Yung Humma): behind-the-scenes, music video + photo gallery

the most recent smanger from the progressively-creative Turquoise Jeep camp is a bit of a family affair, one for the long-time fans who’ve been Keeping The Jeep Ridin’ since jump. the song is, of course, a fucking smash hit. the treat is however seeing the full TJ family on-screen for the first time in a while, marking the re-appearance of once-thought lost member, Slick Mahony. rumours kept running rife about Slick’s whereabouts or why he seemed to be absent from all recent Jeep videos (official & behind the scenes). but here he gloriously re-emerges in true Slick style, and joined by cameos from Whatchyamacallit, Pretty Raheem & Tummiscratch. on top of that we’re treated to undoubtedly one of THEE hawtest video chicks they’ve ever given us, and even more random sullen-looking males to add to the peripheral portion of the Turquoise Jeep universe. check out the inspiration for the song below via F Dot Floss.

and now peep the gloriousness that is WHY I GOTTA WAIT??.

as an added bonus, i’ve taken the liberty of creating my own photo gallery for the vid. as well as a meme-worthy shot of “Nate” that i hope does the rounds on the Internetz. enjoy.

Fjorde Magazine (Spring/Summer 2011 Issue) + my interviews with Kimbra, Dego + Van Hunt

another massive new issue of the ever-growing Fjorde Magazine, with a healthy focus on all local (& now international) underground fashion, arts & music. the Spring/Summer issue features my interviews with local hero Kimbra, musical chieftain/aficionado Dego (of 4hero), & the man-of-awesomeness known as Van Hunt. i try and approach my interviews mostly from the artist’s POV, and as you’ll pick up on, i have a fascination with “the process” and how it manifests for everyone differently. and i’ma just keep acting like i wasn’t completely GEEKED THE FUGG OUT when talkin to Van & Dego (Kimbra‘s cool too of course, but the other two are longtime heroes). while ur reading u might as well suss out the rest of the mag, spesh if u dig pretty pics of pretty people and pretty things.

INFINITUM

not exactly sure what this is, even after i put it together. i think the best i can do to explain it is that it’s an expression of how i see the world when i’m behind the wheel. things are near trance-like for me when the right song is playing in the car. that, and my long-time ancient-rooted adoration of our home star, the sun, came together with the aid of a song by The XX called Infinity. i haven’t been able to get it out of my head for a couple weeks now, and i guess all of this just conspired with the sunny morning drive i took & here we are. INFINITUM: an expression within a moment in time.
